Located in a peaceful clearing just minutes from Grächen, Chalet Bannje was built by my grandfather in 1973 and carefully renovated in 2025. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or with friends, you can rent the entire chalet or just one floor, depending on your needs.
The chalet sits in a quiet, preserved location, surrounded by only two rarely occupied neighboring chalets. It offers a welcome sense of seclusion while still being close to everything: Grächen is accessible on foot through the forest or quickly by car or bus.
As parents of a five-year-old girl and owners of two dogs, we gladly welcome all members of your family. The chalet is equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It combines elegance and modern comfort while preserving the authentic feel of the place.
Among the best-rated family resorts in Europe, Grächen offers a vibrant setting
with a wide range of sports activities, events throughout the year, and a gastronomy that blends Valaisan specialties with international flavors.
And for a unique glimpse into the chalet, here is a music video filmed on-site by a famous German singer:

FAQs

A booking request can be submitted directly via the website. A response is usually provided within a few hours to confirm availability. A secure payment link will then be sent by email. The stay is confirmed once the payment is completed.
Prices are displayed in CHF. Automatic conversion to EUR/USD may appear for reference only— only the CHF amount will be charged. Additional bank fees may apply depending on the user’s financial institution.

By car, simply follow “Chalet Bannje” on Google Maps. Parking is available along the road (free blue zone for a few hours, or with a CHF 5 daily permit, available on request). Public transport is also an option (train to St. Niklaus, then bus to Niedergrächen).
From the road, the chalet is accessed via a forest path of about 80 meters. The path is steep and may be difficult for guests with reduced mobility—but it was manageable by the owner’s grandfather at age 86 and is still used by a 92-year-old neighbor. It may be
slippery in winter depending on weather. In some conditions, driving up to the chalet may be possible depending on the vehicle.

Check-in and check-out times are flexible depending on previous bookings. By default, check-in
starts at 15:00 and check-out is until 11:00.
Presence of the host is not required. A PDF with all relevant information will be sent before arrival, and a key lockbox with code will allow easy access.

The chalet is regularly used by the owners and is therefore better equipped than a typical holiday rental. There is internet, a television, and Apple TV on both floors. Both kitchens are fully equipped (stove, oven, fridge, coffee machine, dishes, basic condiments). The upper unit also has a dishwasher. Bed linen and towels are provided. A washing machine is available upon request. On prior request, a high chair, baby bed, and basic dog equipment can also be provided.

Pets are welcome, provided they are announced in advance so the space can be prepared accordingly.
No extra fee applies, but guests are expected to ensure no additional cleaning is required (fur, dirt, etc).

A cleaning fee applies; its amount is shown during the booking request and included in the total.
Tourist tax is CHF 3.80 per night per adult (age 17+), CHF 1.90 per child (ages 6–16), and free for children under 6.
Both amounts are paid during the booking process.A parking card is available at CHF 5 per day if needed. An EV charging station will soon be available; payment will be handled separately on-site.

The chalet is non-smoking, including e-cigarettes. However, smoking is allowed on the balcony, terrace, or in the garden
ashtrays are available.
